10 The Cat in Hat (2003)
The live-action adaptation of Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat, though almost universally panned by critics, brought many innovative aspects to the franchise. The film features impressive makeup design by Steve Johnson and an all-star cast, including Mike Myers and Alec Baldwin.
The movie also did a remarkable job of adapting the visuals from the source material into a live-action context. Where the film falls short, however, is in its lack of substance, which is somewhat understandable considering the book it's based on is only about 60 pages.
9 The 5,000 Fingers Of Dr. T (1953)
Fans of Dr. Seuss may not know that he wrote a feature-length film in 1953, calledThe 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T., although it has since fallen into obscurity.Interestingly, he also wrote the screenplay and lyrics for the production. Strictly speaking, this makes it an original work rather than an adaptation.
Thestoryfollows Bart Collins, who is the victim of an overbearing piano teacher, Dr. Terwilliker. The majority of the film is set in Bart's dream world, specifically the "Terwilliker Institute." In his dream, his piano teacher is personified as a tyrannical dictator who forces children to play the piano.
8 Horton Hatches the Egg (1942)
Back in 1942, Warner Bros. Pictures adapted one of Dr. Seuss's works into a ten-minute animated feature calledHorton Hatches the Egg as part of their Merrie Melodies.

The plot of the animated short is based on Dr. Seuss's book by the same name; however, the creators noticeably altered many elements of the story. 7 Seussical the Musical (2000)
Dr. Seuss's works are undeniably influential, so much so that they were even adapted into a Broadway musical in 2000.The musical is a blend of several Dr. Seuss stories, although it revolves primarily around Horton, fromHorton Hears a Who!.
The musical begins with Jojo, a boy who stumbles upon a recognizable hat, which he soon discovers belongstoThe Cat in the Hat. Through the power of his imagination, Jojo travels to Seussian lands, meeting a variety of entertaining characters.
6 Dr. Seuss on the Loose (1973)
Like Seussical the Musical, Dr. Seuss on the Loosefeaturesmultiple Seuss stories, including The Sneetches, Green Eggs and Ham, and The Zax. Hosted by The Cat in the Hat, the animated television special aired in 1973 and was well-received by audiences.

In his second role in a Dr. Seuss adaptation, Jim Carrey provides the voice of Horton, an anxious elephant in the Jungle of Nool. Convinced that it is inhabited by citizens of Whoville, Horton stops at nothing to protect the speck.
2 The Lorax (2012)
Following the financial success of the 3D animated Horton Hears a Who!, Universal PicturesreleasedThe Loraxin 2012. The movie successfully expanded upon its source material and the 1972 animated adaptation.
