You are here Food / 100 Recipes, 1-Million Dollar Winner
By A Cowboy's Wife |
I absolutely love challenges, cook-offs, and bake-offs which is why I’m constantly watching shows like Challenge, Chopped, and Iron Chef but have you ever considered entering a food challenge (<–which btw, the winner will be announced soon)? As much as I love challenges, I don’t know if I’d enter. I’m just not that creative but seeing others create such tasty recipes always inspire me.
In April, I’ll be attending the Pillsbury Bake-off in Orlando. I’m excited for a number of reasons. Not only do I get to see someone win a million dollars, I get to see an everyday joe like you and me win that million dollars. I get to see them doing something they are passionate about, taking a risk, and hopefully being proud of how well they did because regardless of whether they win or not, it’s a big accomplishment to be a Top 100 finalists!
I browsed through the 100 entrants to see what recipes caught my eye and I have to say, the judges are going to have a very difficult time choosing but boy I sure would love to be a taste tester!
Some of the Pillsbury Finalists entries that I’d love to try!
Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake by Linda Bibbo
Mile-High Peanut Butter-Brownie Pie by Debbie Bracker
Snappy Joes on Texas Toast by Devon Delaney
Balsamic Roasted Tomato-Spinach-Bacon Pie by Allison Foley
Golden Breakfast Bruschetta by Christine Wilson
If you get a chance, check some of the Pillsbury Entrants out. I’d love to hear which ones you want to try and which one you think will be the grand prize winner!! Who knows, I might give out a small prize to the one who guesses correctly;) (and of there is more than one, I’ll draw from those correct guesses) You have until April 09 to make your guess in the comments below.

I had a hard time, but went back to the mile high PB brownie pie. The pb toffee cheesecake brownie was a close second. my 3rd choice would be the pizza pretzels. I think I’d probably love them all… except the one with the bleu cheese. Not my thing… The bake off’s on my bday! 29, yet again :)

The Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake is what I want to enjoy with a cup of coffee. It is a great dessert after dinner with friends, and looks like a pastry chef made it!!

Everyday I discover another great recipe that challenges me. The Golden Breakfast Bruschetta is a great meal from Christine Wilson. From a simple look, it appears to be quite full of veggies. This is the kind of meal I want.

I’ve actually entered several recipes in the Pillsbury bake off but I guess they weren’t very good since I didn’t “the call”…but it still doesn’t deter me from experimenting with new ideas and flavors to come up with great recipes. It’s part of the fun of being a foodie :)

I’ve entered numerous recipe contests in the past.
I’ve won small prizes in two when I was in my late teens.
They weren’t first place wins, but so what.
I won my first computer an Apple with an oatmeal cookie recipe.
I also won a case of Campbell’s soup and a recipe book from
them in another contest.
So, I keep on trying. I’ve never even got to finalist status
in any bigger recipe contests though.Reply

Wow Lauralee!!! Those must have been some oatmeal cookies!!! Have you ever thought of entering the Pillsbury Bake-off?

They all look tempting to me. If I had to pick one I’m thinking the balsamic spinach bacon pie.

Just had to stop by and give you a big THANKS for blogging about the upcoming 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. It’s hard to believe that a Midwestern stay-at-home mom like myself or one of the other 99 home cooks has a shot at winning a million dollars! And we don’t even have to outwit, outlast and outplay others on an island or make an amazing race around the world! In fact, someone is going to win a million dollars for a recipe he/she created in the comfort of his/her own home kitchen!
I’ve been on Cloud 9 since being contacted as a finalist for the 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. And reading wonderful blogs like this one helps to make this journey all the more sweet! My sincerest appreciation!!!
Thanks again!

Lori – what a great job you have done with this site – it is so colorful and easy to read! So many aren’t.
I also want to thank you for featuring my recipe, Dutch Apple Breakfast Bake. I have to admit that I get so excited when I see a photo of one of my recipes – it makes it so real! Since you did say you will be going to the Bake-Off, hopefully we will get to meet? It is such an exciting and fun experience!
Candi and Lauralee – keep coming up with your original recipes and keep sending them in! You never know what a sponsor is going to pick. From my own experience, it is never the one I thought would be ‘the one’! I wish you both the best of luck! It is such a fun hobby!

I am a breakfast and brunch person so I looked at all the breakfast and brunch recipes. I do think you featured three of the best choices here on your blog. Out of those three I would have to say I would go with the Apple Bake. Since most of our family members are all fans of anything apple, I have decided to put it on the menu for Easter brunch.
