A good balance of sweet and not, very refreshing. It's also good with gin or dark rum and topped off with club soda if you'd like something to sip in larger quantities.

To be authentic use Cachaca (Brazilian rum). Delish.

This was wonderful as is but we also tried making it with strawberries and then pomegranate with equally delicious results. All 3 were very refreshing, with a nice balance of flavors and not overly sweet. We highly recommend this recipe.

My hot weather variation: - juice of a whole lime per drink- 5 cherries- a good amount of fresh mint leaves - 3/4 ounce simple syrup -at least 6 ice cubes Stick it all in a blender It’s a tart, minty, slushy variation of the same drink

Use a good raw honey, not simple syrup

I really enjoyed the flavor combinations in this; I really like my drinks tart (not sweet), so next time I make it, I'll cut the simple syrup by about 50%.

I had some fresh mint, so I added it to the shaker before muddling. After shaking and pouring into the glass, I added a splash of sparkling water and ended up with a riff that blends this drink and a Mojito. Everyone wanted seconds and thirds.

Wow, this is so amazing! I used 5 cherries because mine were on the small side. I also only used 4 ice cubes and that was plenty.

Good customizable co*cktail! Made this at a party, swapped out the white rum for dark rum and it was really good. Also tried it with mezcal and gin (not at the same time) and it was really nice as well, I actually preferred it with gin!

These were great! Used Melissa Clark’s Maraschino Cherries, and added some club soda. Will definitely make again!

Love this drink. One of my new favs. The best balance of sweet and tart.

Made with cachaca and topped with a few ounces of club soda this was refreshing and a perfect summer sipper.

Summer! First time we made these we muddled the limes as per the recipe. There was a slightly bitter note that probably came from the lime skins. Next time we just juiced the limes and liked it better. A splash of some kind of fizzy water is nice if you are looking for a lighter version.

Swapped the fresh cherries and simple syrup for dark Italian cherries in syrup. Very tasty!

I am wondering if the recipe is missing a splash of soda water? I made as directed and it was too strong and not fresh enough without a splash of sparkling water mixed in at the end and an extra squeeze of lime. But overall a very nice summer co*cktail.

Caipirissima is always made with white rum, not cachaça; that's a caipirinha.

Lovely. Made it at the start of cherry season, looking for something to do with cherries. Very pretty, easy. Used mint infused simple syrup, mango rum.

Made with 1 1/2 oz cachaça and 1/2 oz rum. Gave it the traditional caipirinha flavor while the rum filler helped conserve our cachaça supply.
