We haven’t shared the baby’s gender with anyone but am thinking about sharing it at the shower. I thought about keeping it simple and casually dropping that when I thank everyone for coming to the shower BUT from what I’ve seen, the women on this app are far more creative than I. So, with that, I ask you for your most creative ideas

I made a gender reveal box - cheap and easy, just takes a bit of time :) filled it with some cut up paper streamers and some partially filled balloons :)

@Leasenz,
cute! I’d prefer to not do pink or blue though so I’d have to think about what to fill it with

By “not pink or blue” I assume it’s because you don’t want to feed into stereotypical gender constructs? Anyway, we played Pin the Penis on the Baby at my best friend’s baby shower years ago 😂

@MommyScientist,
correct!! They’re not even social constructs as much as what marketers back in the day decided as should be associated with each sex

My husband and I went on a little shopping spree and bought one outfit per size for our little guy! You could do that, then have someone sneakily hang them by the exit when everyone is there We went to Target and got one each of 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 in varying colors and styles, just based on what we liked

Same!!! But as I thank everyone my son is walking in with a colored ballon, I’d love to hear other ideas!!! We don’t want a big huge reveal just simple

@skc914,
I've seen a lot with "brother" or "sister" instead of blue/boy or pink/girl

you can choose whatever colors you want! Make it fun, you can do colors that are special to you and your hubby/family, or use symbols of hobbies that you like, for example a soccer ball, ballet slippers, dinosaurs, puppies, etc. It can be anything that you want!!

I just saw on Instagram a couple didn't want to use pink or blue for their gender reveal so instead they used letters to pull from a decorated box! xx for female or xy for male.

Can you make it into a shower game? Maybe a paper where guests have to unscramble the letters of different baby items … then somehow their answers can read vertically “It’s a ____!” A crossword with highlighted boxes could work too ♀️
It may also be fun to see how long it takes your guests to notice. And who the first one is to notice!

My friends did red and purple (their favorite colors) instead

Maybe some type of animal where the male and female are visibly different? Like deer (antlers vs no antlers)?

@LaurenS0124,
This is a fantastic idea for someone who is looking to avoid social constructs, given that all sorts of punk/blue alternatives are just as socially constructed (sports vs dance, puppies vs bunnies, dinos vs hearts, etc).

@LaurenS0124,
I LOVE this idea! I, sometimes, think that people aren’t always smart enough to figure this out…. That said, I’ll give it more thought
