Just back from a lovely two night stay. Lovely hotel, bedrooms very nice, lovely bathroom with fab shower, nice touch of shower Gel, shampoo, body lotion. The tea tray was fab, lots of different teas, normal and Herbal, also nice selection of coffees. Packets of biscuits too. Very welcoming staff, from the start at reception to the guys and girls behind the bar, waitress service fab. Nice lounge area with fire to sit, also a lovely restaurant. Good selection of breakfasts, we ate in the hotel for dinner and the meals were very tasty. Would definitely return as everything we wanted, oh and fab walks too.

A mixed review as some things were good and others were not.Positives -Dog friendlyLovely building inside and out.Beautiful room, very clean and well presented.Cooked breakfast was gorgeous and the staff were very attentive at breakfast.Negatives -Reception staff need to be welcoming as the guests are paying to stay there. We were not told where the restaurant/breakfast would be or in fact anything about the hotel.Dinner menu - over priced pub grub and service extremely slow for a quiet restaurant. Our room (Room 17) although beautiful the headboard is on the wall next to the corridor. People walking up and down all night and all morning. I’ve had better nights sleep in a travel lodge.

Very disappointed given the reviews we had read and heard. On arrival the front of house were not very welcoming or attentive. We were not served for at least ten minutes after sitting down. We were sat at a dirty table, where we ordered two alternative afternoon teas. Beers were simply placed in front of you with no description/guide as to what they were.Thee staff I asked didn't seem to know, despite the beer being seemingly brewed in the pub...The waitress didn't know what a plain scone was when asked if a fruit scone could be swapped. Our request for tap water was also forgotten. After the food arrived almost no follow up service came (besides the cursory check) and we were not offered the included hot drinks. The soup was nice, but it was all downhill from there. Pork bun was cold, chips were not fully cooked, the fruit scone had the complete wrong texture and was stale. As per another review, throughout the staff seemed set on finishing up and leaving (which they appeared to actually do) rather than serving. We ended up having to walk to the front and ask if we could pay what we considered a high price for a below average experience.

We have just had a fantastic stay at the Wild Boar Hotel. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean with good quality towels, linens and tea tray. We also took our dog with us and I initially thought an extra £30 for the dog was a bit steep, however I was wrong the care and detail put in to him staying was brilliant. They had left him a water dish, treats, a ball, his own towel and bed, absolutely fantastic. But saving the best until last the breakfast is always outstanding at the Wild Boar, always great quality produce and a brilliant selection to choose from. We have stayed at lots of great hotels but the Wild Boar’s breakfast is the best of any. Fantastic stay and we will 100% be returning 😀

Really lovely place, we had a nice room but just a bit close to quite a busy road for me. Watch out for the loo/bathroom next to the window - I think a couple of car drivers might have had quite a shock as they came over the brow of the hill!Lovely breakfast with great staff (from all over the world). Will go back to have a proper meal.
